Bar Camp Nashville To go or not to go – that is the question!

Ok, so I live 90 miles from Nashville – why should I go to Barcamp Nashville? I have missed the last 2, why start going now? Come on, I go to PHP meetups, Drupalcamp Nashville, this camp that camp – why add another?

Well lets look at it. On the negative side its on a Saturday. So no sleeping in late, no coffee in my pajamas! Its an HOUR AND A HALF drive people!! Why the heck should I be forced to put myself out like this? I mean come on I can go fishing instead!

Ok on the other side, a lot of people have worked hard to set this up. They have spent time, money and energy working on BarCamp Nashville so we can have a great time meeting people and learning new things! And if no one goes, when I do want to go, it might be gone forever!

Well why else would I want to go? I already know everything, so why bother? Oh wait, look at all these speakers – maybe I dont know everything, I might learn something here that will get me a raise! Hey raises are good! Or maybe that company is looking for a new developer and will give me a raise to boot!

Well maybe I can go to meet cool people! Lets see, are there going to be any cool people like Cal Evans and Paul Jones there? How about industry leaders like Marcus Whitney? Oh there is? Cool! Maybe some of their cool will rub off on me – oh wait, I am cool I dont need that!

Ok so why go? Well I am not cool, so maybe some cool will rub off! And I can use a job, so maybe I will get lucky and meet the perfect match! And I do want to show the folks who set this up and the speakers that their hard work wasnt wasted. And I dont know everything, maybe I can learn some new skills to help at work!

Well there it is – the reasons not to attend BarCamp Nashville dont add up to a hill of beans  and a lot of really great reasons to attend! If you want to learn new things, be cool and spend a day with industry leaders and fellow tech folks, come on down to BCN11 and have a blast! Make sure you tell the folks volunteering a thank you -- they are all volunteers! Dont forget to support the sponsors too!
